Wednesday Morning Announcements (11-30-22)
  • Seniors – as your reward for winning the Food Drive, if you are interested in being on the Dodgeball team to face the Staff, please sign up with Mrs. Merickel via email or stop by the office by 3:00 PM today. There are only 10 spots, so if there are more than that number who want on the team, there will be a vote later this week to determine the final team members. We need at least 5 boys and 5 girls, so please be sure to sign up!

  • There are presale tickets in the office for the HS boys basketball game at New Knoxville on Dec 10th. Presale tickets are $7 for both adults and students. Tickets at the door will be available but the ticket price increases to $8 for both adults and students.

  • Sophomores – we will be heading to the UVCC for the Explore Careers Day field trip today. We will leave after 1st period and return in time for lunch. Please be sure to remind your parents about the UVCC’s Open House on Thursday December 1st, which runs from 6:00-7:30 PM. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Merickel.

  • There will be a Power of the Pen meeting on Thursday, December 1st, after school until 4:00 PM in Mrs. Paulus’ room for all 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen team members.

  • Attention 7th-grade girls basketball players. After reporting to Wildcat Time today please come down to the office and deliver your UD ticket money to Mr. Maier.

  • Just Write will meet after school on Thursday.

  • Crochet Club members, make sure to bring your materials for Friday’s Wildcat time meeting.

Tuesday Morning Announcements (11-22-22)
  • Students, when you return from Thanksgiving break there will no longer be locks on your lockers. This should allow you to access them more quickly and efficiently. I encourage you to take this opportunity to find ways to use your lockers during the day.
    A few things for you to keep in mind:
    1. Please make sure you are using your assigned locker. If you are unsure of your locker # please ask.
    2. Students should only have one bag in the classroom. Additional athletic bags, PE bags, and lunch bags should be stored in your locker during the school day.

Monday Morning Announcements (11-21-22)
  • The results of the National Honor Society Food Drive are in!
    The drive brought in just under 700 items this year! All these items will all stay in the Houston community.

    The elementary class with the most items per student was the 2nd grade.

    The winners on the Junior High/High School side are the Seniors! They will form a team to face the staff in a Dodgeball game set for Friday December 9th during Wildcat Time.

    Thanks to everyone who helped make this drive a success!

  • 2 hr delay bell schedule

  • Due to the cancellation of the Spanish Field trip and the FCCLA field trip, all students should report to their regularly scheduled classes today. That includes Mrs. Mertz’s 7th and 8th period classes.

  • Congratulations to this week’s Wildcats of the Week! These students have displayed our values of respect and are working to become the best versions of themselves. Hunter Bell, Cadence DeLong, Rory DeLong, Kate Rockwood, and Madison Smith. Would those students please come to the office following announcements?

Thursday Morning Announcements (11-10-22)
  • The National Honor Society is excited to announce their sixth annual Thanksgiving Food Drive! Over the next two weeks we will be collecting non-perishable food items for local families in need. Please bring your items to the Commons before school starts and put them in your grade level’s designated box. Next week we will be having theme days for specific items to bring that will be worth double points. For grades 7-12, we will be competing to see which grade level will face off against the teachers in a Staff-Student Dodgeball game! So, make sure to help out as much as you can. The NHS thanks you for your support!

  • Just Write has been cancelled for today. It will meet next on Tuesday the 15th.

  • Congratulations to our FFA Chapter’s Food Science team on winning the district contest Tuesday night. Anna Henry placed 2nd in the contest as an individual. Katie Maier, Ethan Lukey, Addy Frohne and Anna Henry will all compete at the state food science contest next month! Congratulations and a great job to all those who competed!
