Teens across Ohio are rolling up their sleeves to help and we invite you to join in. In fact, it is estimated that high school student donations will make up 20% of the blood supply. See Mrs. Chappie to volunteer.

  • Early blood donations were made directly from a donor to a receiver before the blood coagulated. In 1914, researchers discovered that adding sodium citrate to blood prevented it from coagulating. This opened the way for collecting and storing the blood for future use. Army doctors in World War I were the first to collect and store blood. The Community Blood Center, recently renamed Solvita, is located in Dayton, Ohio and was started in 1964. The blood that we collect will be used to help stock this center that services our area of the state. See Mrs. Chappie today to sign up for a donation time.
