POWER Coat Give-Away
The United Way women’s initiative group, POWER, will be partnering with St. John’s again this year for their annual “Coat Give-Away”. It will be held on Saturday October 9th, 2021 from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church Basement in Sidney. POWER will have all their new coats at this event for Shelby County school aged children.
4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Youth Volleyball

Due to issues with food suppliers, there is a lunch menu change for Thursday September 30th. Lunch will be meatloaf sandwiches instead of stromboli’s. Currently there are supplier issues going on right now with food, paper products, and even silverware that we use. Unfortunately, this is probably just the beginning of menu changes for the school year. We will always try to let students know ahead of time, so they can plan accordingly for lunch.

Students in grades 3 – 8 are invited to the Taste of DI workshop on October 27th at Sidney Middle School from 4:00-6:00 PM. Participants will have an opportunity to sample several STEAM based challenges and create their own solutions.
Destination Imagination is about using your imagination and materials you have available to solve a challenge. For example –
Could you build a structure that could support a baseball using balsa wood?
Could you build a device that would move you 10 feet across the floor for less than $50?
Could you create a play about a historical figure and tell the story musically?
Could you create a skit about solving a mystery involving a famous place?
Could you use 2 different animals working together to solve a problem?

Chicken Dinner Fundraiser
The Junior Class is raising money for Prom 2021! They are selling tickets for a chicken dinner meal on Friday, October 22nd. The dinner includes ½ chicken, roll, applesauce, and chips. Tickets are $8.00 each and can be purchased from any junior or by contacting Prom Advisors Gina Maier at 295-3010 ext 2020, firstname.lastname@example.org or Tina Mertz at 295-3010 ext. 2015, email@example.com. Ticket sales end Tuesday, October 12th. Dinners can be picked up at Houston High School on October 22nd from 4:30-6:30 PM using the back parking lot near the track.
