Adventures in Books with Crafts (ABC Program)
Please join our new program for Hardin-Houston children ages 3-5 on Saturday, March 13th from 9:00-10:00 AM in the Commons. There will be lots of fun including reading, crafts, nursery rhymes, and a breakfast item. We look forward to seeing you! A parent is required to stay. Click here for a flyer.
If anyone would like to donate children’s books for children to take home, please feel free to drop them off at the school.
Just Write has announced the state participants. Houston’s Division One team (9th and 10th grade) came in 8th as a team and three of the five have been invited to state. Congratulations to Brodie Nishwitz, Abi Hickerson, and Rory DeLong. Other members of the Division One team are Abby Cowan and Keiren Thorpe. Our Division Two team (11th and 12th) came in 4th as a team! Four of the six have qualified for state, congratulations to Kyleigh Gardner, Maddy Wills, Grace Rader and Gideon Dienhart. Other members of the Division Two team are Keirstin Ludwig and Kierstyn Oberdorf.

6th Grade Shirt Design Contest
Mrs. New’s 6th grade technology classes took part in a design contest for the best Houston t-shirt and sweatshirt as part of a unit on running a small business. All of the elementary classes voted for their favorite designs. The winners of each category received a shirt with their design. Hailey McCorkle and Deijah Weidner were voted best sweatshirt design and Ashtin Bowman was voted best t-shirt design.
The softball team held their annual dodgeball tournament on February 26th. Twenty-six teams competed for the coveted title of Houston Dodgeball Champions in the double elimination tournament. Lights Out stormed their way through the tournament undefeated to reach the finals. Killer Whales fought their way through the losers bracket to make the finals and get a chance to avenge their only loss by defeating Lights Out twice in a best of three complete their comeback bid. In the finals, Lights Out took game one but Killer Whales would not go down without a fight as they rallied to win game two. The third and deciding match came down to a two on two showdown with Lights Out pulling out the win and claiming the championship without losing a match all tournament.
