- The athletic department is looking for a few motivated individuals that are interested in making some extra cash.
The following positions are paid, and by working them individuals would make $20 each evening.
JH girls scoreboard operator
JH boys bookkeeper
The two following positions pay $15 for the day
HS girls scorer’s table music operator
HS boys scorer’s table music operator
If interested, please come talk to Mr. Knouff - High School students: we are seeking a strong Math student who would be interested in doing some tutoring after school one or two days per week. This is a paid position. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Merickel.

- Japanamania will meet today from 3-5 PM.
- Ladies and gentlemen let’s all give our band a round of applause! Over the weekend, it was announced that THE Houston Wildcat Band was voted best marching band in the annual Wapakoneta Halloween parade! The parade was comprised of bands representing 6 high schools from Shelby, Auglaize, and Allen county. Great job Wildcats for bringing home the trophy!
- Congratulations to this week’s Wildcats of the Week. These students have displayed our values of respect, success, and pride and are working to become the best version of themself. Congratulations Shawnee Martin, Cayden Sherman and Macs Edwards. Please come to the office following announcements.

- Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the closed doors of a jury room? How does a group of 12 people who’ve never met reach a consensus on the guilt or innocence of a man they’ve never met? Come see 12 Angry Jurors as they deliberate over a grisly murder case and ask yourself the question, would you have voted the same? Performances are tonight and Saturday at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5.
- Chicken Dinner pickup is tonight from 4:30-6:00 PM

- Spanish Circle would like to thank all students and staff who helped to make the Houston High School Fall Blood Drive a success. Thank you for donating the gift of life for someone in your community. If you couldn’t donate at our drive, keep your eyes peeled for the next blood drive at the Houston Community Center. And remember, even if you couldn’t participate this time around, NHS will be doing it all over again in the Spring. Hope to see you then!

- The Cross Country Team would like to recognize Ava Mowery who participated in the Regional Cross Country Meet for her second consecutive year. She joins the short list of Houston runners who are able to attain this distinction. Congratulations to her for a hard fought and successful season.

- A reminder to NHS members that our first full-membership meeting will be this Friday during Wildcat Time in the Media Center.
- Students taking CCP classes: if you need to register for classes for next semester, Edison’s registration is now open. Remember, you must come see Mrs. Merickel to discuss course options and to sign your registration sheet. Do not wait and get closed out of the class sections you want. Stop by the office to take care of this either during your Study Hall, at lunchtime, or during Wildcat Time.
- Additionally, CCP students who are taking CCP for the first time this year received an email from Edison regarding orientation. If you got that email, you must take care of that obligation, or your CCP registration for next semester will be dropped. Please ensure you are taking care of this easy, but important, task. See Mrs. Merickel with questions.
- Attention Spanish Circle members who are helping with the Blood Drive today: Check in with your teachers quickly first to get your homework and then head down to the HS Gym to help out during your assigned time ONLY.
- All donors will have a cheese stick delivered to their first period class today. Please plan to eat your snack one hour before your donation time, with permission from your teacher. All donors need to leave a few minutes early to arrive on time at your scheduled appointment.
- Tonight is the FFA’s Trunk or Treat and Haunted Trail starting at 6:00 PM.
- Goodluck to Ava Mowery as she competes at the Regional Cross Country meet tomorrow morning at Troy.
- Goodluck to the HS Volleyball team as they play in the District Final game tomorrow morning at Fairmont High School vs. Ft. Recovery at 10:00. Please come to support the girls and wear grey for the game theme.

- Blood Donors should be drinking plenty of water today to get your veins ready for tomorrow. The more hydrated you are, the smoother your donation will be. Wear something comfortable tomorrow that can be easily rolled up to the elbow. Please see Mrs. Chappie if you did not receive your donor snack bag. Remember to ask permission of your teacher before having your snacks and make sure all trash gets thrown away.
- Girls basketball’s first practice has been moved to Monday, October 27, after school in order to allow everyone to go cheer on the volleyball team at District Finals and Ava Mowery at XC regionals on Saturday morning.
