On Saturday December 7 during halftime of the varsity girls basketball game against Anna, the 1985 District Championship Girls Basketball Team was recognized.
Houston was proud to again celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the 1984-85 varsity girls basketball team, a group of dedicated athletes who brought pride and recognition to our school. This talented team finished the regular season with a commendable record of 12 wins and 8 losses. Their journey did not end there; they entered the tournament play defeating Newton with a score of 54-35, Covington 60-47, and Ft. Loramie 49-45.
The pinnacle of their season came when they faced Riverside in the District finals where the Lady Wildcats emerged victorious with a nail-biting score of 63-61, earning the program’s first District Championship title.
This group’s season came to an end in the regionals as they faced a very tough team in the Bethel Bees, and concluded their season with an impressive overall record of 16 wins and 9 losses. Their legacy continues to inspire our athletes at Houston High School. Click here to view pictures.
