Spring Sports Awards Program
Houston High School held the Spring Sports Awards Program on Monday, May 19th. Baseball award winners were Reagan Steiner with the Best Offensive Player Award, Jeff Leist with the Best Defensive Player Award, and AJ Edwards with the Wildcat Award. Softball award winners were Madison Plunkett with the Best Offensive Player Award, Makenna Vondenhuevel with the Best Defensive Player Award and the Wildcat Award. Boys track award winners were Trenton Hartings with Most Points Track, Malachi Sano with Most Points Field, and Aarick Moreno with the Wildcat Award. Girls track award winners were Autumn Ritter with Most Points Track, Emilee Earl with Most Points field and the Wildcat Award. Several athletes were recognized for earning All League honors. In softball, Makenna Vondenhuevel was named Player of the Year and received 1st Team All SCAL, Madison Plunkett received 2nd Team All SCAL, and Marissa McDermit received Honorable Mention All SCAL. In girls track, Emilee Earl was named Athlete of the Year and received 1st team All SCAL in pole vault, discus, and shot put as well as 2nd team All SCAL in the 4 x 100m relay, Autumn Ritter received 1st Team All SCAL in the 100m dash and 2nd Team All SCAL in both the 200m dash and the 4 x 100m relay, and both Lexi Hartings and Olivia Burks received 2nd Team All SCAL in the 4 x 100m relay. The All SCAL Teams for baseball have not been released yet. When they are this post will be updated with those results. Congratulations to all spring athletes!
