Congratulations Andy

Andy Holscher, a Houston student attending the UVCC, was selected as a national finalist for the National Proficiency Award in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance. Holscher was one of only four people chosen to compete for this award at the national finals to be held at the 92nd National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis the end of October. In recognition of being a national finalist Holscher will receive a national finalist medallion and $500.

Holscher started his FFA membership with the Houston FFA Chapter and advisor Mr. Derek McCracken. Mr. McCracken was instrumental in encouraging him to apply for the proficiency as a sophomore. Due to Holscher’s interest in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance he enrolled in the Ag and Power Technologies program at Upper Valley Career Center his junior year and became a member of the UVCC FFA Chapter with advisor, Mr. Dan Schmiesing.
