Recognition of the 1990 and 1999 Boys Basketball District Championship Teams
On Saturday December 21st during halftime of the varsity boys basketball game against Minster, the 1990 and 1999 District Championship Boys Basketball Teams were recognized.
Houston was proud to again celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the 1990 and 1999 varsity boys basketball team, a group of dedicated athletes who brought pride and recognition to our school. Click here to view pictures.

Homecoming 2024-25
The Student Council would like to announce this year’s Homecoming Court! The Crown Bearers are second graders Weston Schutz and Aubrey Siegel. Houston’s freshman attendants are Davis Burks and Carmen Beaver. Sophomore attendants are Cooper Echols and Megan South. Junior attendants are Joseph Mohler and Malaiya Gross. Houston’s Queen candidates include Sara Loraine, Addie Mowery, and Mekayla Pleiman. King candidates include Lucas Mohler, Paul Samera, and Reagan Steiner.
The Homecoming Crowning Ceremony and Band Show will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday January 17th in the High School Gymnasium. The JV and Varsity Boys Homecoming Basketball games against Fairlawn will follow.
The court will preside over the Homecoming Dance, “Under the Sea,” which will be held on Saturday January 18th in the School Commons from 8:00-11:00 PM. The dance will be DJ’d by T and A Entertainment. Ticket sales and date form collection will take place in January. The Homecoming Dance is sponsored by the Houston High School Student Council.

Spelling Bee
Hardin-Houston Local School held the spelling bee on Wednesday, December 18th. Alexis Rust, 7th grade, won the bee after spelling the words committee and linoleum correctly to emerge victorious after 19 rounds. First runner-up was 7th grader Dominic Richardson. The next level of competition will be the Lima Regional Spelling Bee in March.

Wall of Honor
Hardin-Houston Local School held their Wall of Honor induction on Saturday December 14th between the varsity girls and boys basketball games against Newton. Recognition of the 1985 Girls Basketball District Championship Team
On Saturday December 7 during halftime of the varsity girls basketball game against Anna, the 1985 District Championship Girls Basketball Team was recognized.
Houston was proud to again celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the 1984-85 varsity girls basketball team, a group of dedicated athletes who brought pride and recognition to our school. This talented team finished the regular season with a commendable record of 12 wins and 8 losses. Their journey did not end there; they entered the tournament play defeating Newton with a score of 54-35, Covington 60-47, and Ft. Loramie 49-45.
The pinnacle of their season came when they faced Riverside in the District finals where the Lady Wildcats emerged victorious with a nail-biting score of 63-61, earning the program’s first District Championship title.
This group’s season came to an end in the regionals as they faced a very tough team in the Bethel Bees, and concluded their season with an impressive overall record of 16 wins and 9 losses. Their legacy continues to inspire our athletes at Houston High School. Click here to view pictures.

AJ Edwards signs with Ohio Christian University
Congratulations to AJ Edwards who signed on Friday, December 6th to play NCCAA Division 1 Baseball for Ohio Christian University. AJ is the son of Brian and Jessica Edwards. He is a three year letter winner in baseball as well as honorable mention All SCAL and the MVP of the Dayton Dragons High School Showcase his junior year. AJ would like to thank his friends and family for all their support through this journey. He is excited to continue his athletic career as a Trailblazer.
