Thursday
Today starts with a visit to the MLK, FDR, and Jefferson Memorials. Afterwards they will visit the FBI followed by Arlington National Cemetery where a wreath will be placed at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then it’s on to the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the US Army Museum.
The first stop was the MLK and FDR Memorials.
Afterwards was a visit to the National Archives, where Mrs. Maier took the opportunity to teach class.
From there it was on to the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Building for a tour which was unexpectedly cancelled with only a two hour notice. The pictures below show our students disappointment in the tour’s cancellation.
After recovering from the disappointment, they headed to Ford’s Theater.
The Jefferson Memorial was next on the itinerary.
Then it was on to Iwo Jima followed by Arlington National Cemetery where the students had the privilege of witnessing the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
The final stop was at the People’s House which is an interactive White House experience.
