Spring Sports Awards Program
Houston High School held the Spring Sports Awards Program on Thursday, May 16th. Baseball award winners were Howie Ludwig with the Best Offensive Player Award, Brennan Arnold with the Best Defensive Player Award, and Luke Foster with the Wildcat Award. Softball award winners were Allisen Foster with the Best Offensive Player Award, Emilee Foster with the Best Defensive Player Award, and Addie White with the Wildcat Award. Boys track award winners were Tristin Freistuhler with Most Points Track, Wesley Jester with Most Points Field, Ethan Knouff with the Wildcat Award, Jacob Slater with the Russ Richards Award, and Ethan Funk with the Ryan Mohler Award. Girls track award winners were Shelby Ayers with Most Points Field, Hollie Voisard with Most Points Track, and Cassidy Mayse with the Wildcat Award. Several athletes were recognized for earning All League honors. In baseball, Howie Ludwig received 1st Team All SCAL and John Leist and Luke Foster both received honorable mention All SCAL. In softball, Emilee Foster and Allisen Foster both received 1st Team All SCAL, Peyton New received 2nd Team All SCAL, and Olivia Bowser received honorable mention All SCAL. In boys track, those receiving 1st Team All SCAL were Ethan Knouff in the 800m run and those receiving 2nd Team All SCAL were Wesley Jester in high jump and the 4 x 800 relay team of Tristin Freistuhler, Ethan Knouff, Blake Jacobs, and Joseph Earl. In girls track, those receiving 1st Team All SCAL were Ava Knouff in the 3200m run and those receiving 2nd Team All SCAL were Ava Knouff in the 1600m run, and Shelby Ayers in both shot put and discus.
